John Melbourne Baker
79, Of Farmington, passed away July 6, 2007 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Farmington, Lunenburg Co., he was the son of the late Orman Jacob and Louetta Rose (Crouse) Baker. He began working at an early age at the Mersey Paper Company Ltd., where he worked for a number of years. Later, he spent his years doing mixed farming and enjoyed life on his farm and in his woodlot. John was a member of the Barss Corner Baptist Church, Barss Corner and had a very special love for children. John was loved by many people during his lifetime. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Surviving are his wife Barbara (Legge) Baker, married for almost 53 years; foster children, Charmaine (Richard) Grandy, Christine (Tuson) Lou, and Kenny (Angie) Baker; foster grandchildren; Katrina, Christopher, Benjamin, and Jacob; brothers, Lovatt (Mae), Green Valley, Ont; Carmen, Loran (Irene), both of Farmington; sisters, Bernice Robar, New Germany; Marjorie Varner, Stanburne; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Frank, Angus; sisters, Blanche Slack, Bertha Eisener, Beatrice Taylor; a brother and sister both in infancy. Visitation for family and friends will be 7-9 p.m. Monday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, in Barss Corner Baptist Church in Barss Corner, Rev. Jennifer Joudrey officiating. Burial will follow in Parkdale Community Cemetery, Parkdale.
