Obituary of Greta Herman

Greta Marie Herman 81 of Italy Cross, Lunenburg County passed away July 12, 2007 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Laplan, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Alice (Zwicker) and Elijah Hirtle. Greta was the Postal Mistress at the Italy Cross Post Office for 30 years. She was known throughout the area for her sewing and quilting abilities. She was very active in her community with the Italy Cross Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary, the Lapland Baptist Church and her charitable canvassing. She is survived by her husband Eldon Herman; daughters Sandra (Melvin) Himmelman, LaHave; Dale (Kim Butcher), Halifax; Sons Wayne (Marilyn), Bridgewater; Blaine (Chriss), Italy Cross; Sisters Georgina Wamback, Bridgewater; Arlene Hebb, Conquerall Bank; Brother George Hirtle, Lapland; 8 Grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Greta was predeceased by her son Bruce “BK”; 7 brothers, Arthur, Frank, Beriah, Carl, Lester, Ervin and Bruce; sister Ruby Fancy. Visitation will be held 7 to 9pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, Saturday July 14. Funeral services will be held 11:30am Sunday July 15 at the Lapland Baptist Church, Rev Lloyd Gillieo officiating.
