Obituary of Marshall Hirtle

Marshall Freeman Hirtle 85, Dublin Shore, Lunenburg County, passed away, Thursday, August 30, 2007 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on Hirtle’s Island, he was a son of the late Maurice and Vera (Himmelman) Hirtle. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 24, Bridgewater. Surviving are his wife, Minnie (Corkum), Dublin Shore; son, William “Bill”, Dublin Shore; daughter, Sheila (Tim Hill), Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Jamie and Nancy; Sam and Kate; sisters, Vivian Sponagle, Halifax; Doris (Mac) Smith, Cookville; Phyllis (Glen) Haughan, Pictou; Nina (Earl) Teal, Dublin Shore. He was predeceased by brother, Ellsworth. Visitation 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater with a public legion tribute service at 7 p.m. and where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating.
