Obituary of Iva Ulrica Romkey

ROMKEY, Iva Ulrica – Age 94, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away February 1, 2018 in Ridgewood Assisted Living, Bridgewater. Born in Middle LaHave on November 9, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Roger Cyril and Muriel Eliza Dorothy (Hiltz) Mosher. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater. During her life she was involved with activities pertaining to her church, having taught Sunday school classes, singing in the choir, working with Junior Choir members, serving on the parish council and various other committees and also started the “Memorial Book”. Iva was a dedicated teacher for 45 years and through her life tutored many children who were very special to her. Iva also served on the Brookside Cemetery Commission, Bridgewater. Iva is survived by her sister-in-law, Imogene Bush, West Dublin; nieces, Darlene Cleroux, Ottawa; Suzanne Starratt, Halifax; Debora Saunders, Miramichi, nephew, Eric Mosher, Oxford. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, J. Murray B. Romkey; brother, George Cyril Mosher, Oxford and sister, Kathleen Sarah Floraine Gerhardt, Halifax; Mabel Lydia Catherine Bushall, Halifax; and special long-time friend, Wilfred C. Lohnes. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with funeral service at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, February 6 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater with Rev. Simon Davies officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or charity of choice.
