Obituary of Mitchell Aubrey Zwicker

ZWICKER, Mitchell Aubrey – passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 30, 2018, at South Shore Regional Hospital at the age of 83.  Born in Simpsons Corner on August 6, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Leona (Hyson) Zwicker.  He was predeceased by his wife Grace (Varner) in 1991.  Mitchell is survived by daughters Leah (Wayne) Zinck, Lisa (Faron) Meisner, and Lee (Andrew) Perry; son Sterling (Debbie) Zwicker; grandchildren Gerald (Takako), Mitchell (Angela), Kelsey, and Matthew Zinck; Lynsey (Casey Conrad) and Lauren (Tyler Grandy) Meisner; Megan and Rachel Perry; Dominique and Jackson Zwicker; great-grandchildren Jonah and Abigail; sister Stella Deamond; brother Ivan, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by sister Pearle Arenburg; brothers Herman and Clyde; and long-time companion Beulah Ramey.

He retired from a long career as construction manager with Aberdeen Paving in the mid-90’s.  He loved family gatherings, crazy Christmas hats, and enjoyed working in the woods, farming, and more recently attending music jams and variety shows with his special friend, Emily Ritchie.  He had an immense love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists in ICU who provided exceptional care for dad during his short stay.

Visitation will take place from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Thursday, July 5^th at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Epworth United Church, New Germany, with Rev Catherine Robar officiating.  A private family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Intensive Care Unit of SSRH, Hillside Cemetery fund Simpsons Corner, or the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
