Blaine Barker National President of the RCNA posted a condolence
Tuesday, July 24, 2018
It is with deep regret that we have learned of Gerald's passing his final Bar. Words cannot express adequately the
feelings his family are experiencing at this time. The Royal Canadian Naval Association of Canada extends our heartfelt sorrow to all the members of Gerald's family. Unfortunately we learned the day of his service of the arrangements, or we would have made an attempt to attend. Shipmate Gerald was a long serving member of the association and earned high respect and regard of all the members he came in contact with. S/M Gerald contributed greatly to the operation and leadership of the organization serving as our National Executive Vice President

Sending our sympathies and prayers for Jerry and his family. We only knew Jerry for a couple of months when our Father Fred MGlone went to live at the Veterans Memorial the second week of May.Your Dad sat across the dining table from our Dad who is 94.We were so lucky Jery was there,so pleasant and friendly, making us feel welcome. We had lunch together a few times. He was so interesting to talk to and you would never know he was visually impaired,he got around so well.We will always remember his kindness. The Veterans have a special place in our hearts, men of great character and strength. The place just won't be same without him.He was special to many people.Sincerely,Val (McGlone),Fred McGlone,Cheryl Kalyshov,Evelyne Kervin,Mary (LeBlanc),Bryan McGlone

Uncle Jerry was like a father to me. 17 years old and 2200 kms for home, he was always there for me. He and Aunt Ruth came to my Cornwallis Graduation, which meant the world to me. The pride that Uncle Jerry wore on his face and how he interacted with me, convinced everyone there, he was my father. I will forever remember the words a wisdom and support he has given me over the 25 years of service I have done. Uncle Jerry you are a Naval Icon. The naval community, family and friends have truly lost a treasure. Forever on my heart and in my thoughts.

Cathy,Michael and family.
I had the honor of sailing with Jerry on Okanagan in 1969 after commissioning. In 2004, I attended a submarine celebration in Halifax. Jerry invited me to park my trailer at the cottage on Covey Lake. My wife,Lise and myself had a wonderful visit with Ruth and Jerry for a few days at this time. It was such a pleasure to have known your parents and to be treated as royalty with them.
Please accept my sincere condolences on Jerry's passing at this sad time. He will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. May he rest in peace and be at Ruth's side again..
