Bob Fulleman died at his home in Crescent Beach on August 1, 2018 in his 81st year.  He was born in Camden NJ on Oct.15, 1937, the son of the late Adolph and Emily Fulleman.  In 1969 he moved to Southern California where he met his wife of 40 years, Mary Fraser, formerly of Bridgewater NS. Bob was a man-of-all trades.  He started working at age 16 in his father’s coat factory as a cloth cutter of women’s coats.  For several years he drove an 18-wheeler across the US; he was a self-taught auto mechanic and ran his own shop in California for 10 years.  He worked as an overhead commercial door contractor for 20 years and retired in 2005 to start another life in Nova Scotia., Bob had been suffering for the past six years from a progressive, incurable and untreatable brain disease that slowly robbed more and more of his ability to stand and walk and do all of the things that he loved to do. If you knew him, you’d understand that his disease was a crushing blow. He was a long-time motorcycle devotee, both street and dirt, favoring the BMW, and he and his buddies rode (and raced) motorcycles together for years—both in New Jersey as well as in Southern California. He was the kind of guy who always had to have a project (or three) going.  And he had to make sure that each and every project had the best possible outcome. A goal he rarely failed to achieve. He was always an avid jig-saw, crossword and Sudoku fan. When he realized he could no longer do a lot of the physical things he loved he took up rug hooking,  He and Mary drove across the US many times, always taking a different route, stopping to visit many US presidential libraries. He loved to drive – it was a passion. Most of his working years he regularly worked 14 hour days but always had time for the Sertoma Club, the Whittier Museum and the local Boys & Girls Club.  In Nova Scotia he was a proud member of the Petite Riviere Volunteer Fire Dept and he counted the days from Labour Day on for the first day of curling.  He and Mary moved to Nova Scotia in 2002 and continued to go back to California to work in the winter (for obvious reasons) for the next few years.  When he retired completely from his job in California, the minute he received his Canada landed immigrant status he was working again – at Buck’s Home Hardware where he stayed for eight years, retiring in his 80th year .  Bob had fallen in love with Nova Scotia during the many vacations he and Mary had enjoyed at Crescent Beach and in 1994 they bought a piece of land at Crescent Beach and built their dream home in 2001.  Besides his wife he is survived by his two brothers Charles (Doris) and Allen (Brenda) both of Virginia, his special nephew Bob Crain (Ellen) of New Jersey, and his sister-in-law Jean McHarg, Bridgewater and her children.  A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Petite Riviere Fire Hall on Sunday, September 9th,  from 3pm to 5 pm.
