Obituary of Ruth Mary Margaret Fultz

FULTZ, Ruth Mary Margaret (Redmond) – Age 87, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully, with family by her side on August 16, 2018 in Shoreham Village, Chester. Born in Halifax on April 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William and Nora (Walsh) Redmond. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary Elaine, Mississauga; sons, Joseph (Marilyn), West Berlin; John (Karen), Crousetown; Stephen (Audrey), Bible Hill; Peter (Mary), Airdrie, AB; grandchildren, Joey, Brendan, Caleb, Noah, Matthew, Luke, Emily, Tabitha; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Howard; sister in infancy; six brothers.

The importance of faith, family, and hard work was instilled in Ruth at an early age as she tended to her beloved mother until her passing when Ruth was only eighteen. Ruth had a great love of travel and the outdoors. While she thoroughly enjoyed her trip to Ireland at the age of 80, she had many special places in Nova Scotia like the seaside secluded family picnic spot at Peggy's Cove, Sir Sanford Flemming Park and Green Bay. 

Ruth made fast friends with her humor and engaging personality. Although she had only been living at Shoreham Village since February, she developed many close friendships with staff and residents alike. A special thank you to the staff of Shoreham Village for their loving care.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24 from 7-9 pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 25 at 12 noon in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bridgewater. Father Jim MacDonald OMI officiating. A private family burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bridgewater.
