Obituary of Hazel Mae Tufts

TUFTS, Hazel Mae – Age 89, of New Germany, passed away peacefully on August 24^th, 2018. Hazel was the daughter of the late George and Laura Drew of Stanburne, Lunenburg County. She was also predeceased by her husband, Lee Tufts.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Garnet) Keddy, Stanburne; Elaine (Gerald) Oickle, Conquerall Mills; Marsha (Ray) Neiley, Halifax; Maureen (Ron) Benedict, Shubenacadie; Valerie Tufts, Bridgewater; she has one surviving sister, Vella Ramey; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild.

Hazel grew up in Stanburne and after marriage remained there to raise her children. She was most proud of her five daughters. Later in life she became a resident at the Rosedale Home for Special Care in New Germany. Although the last few months were difficult, she remained her feisty self almost up to the end. The family wants to give special thanks to the Home for their kindness and special care over the years. Also thank you to Sweeny’s for the funeral care.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A private service will be held a later date.
