Obituary of Shirley Martha Nowe
NOWE, Shirley Martha – Age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2018, with family by her side, at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Born in Mill Village, Queens Co., on February 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Martha (Rhyno) Nauss.
Shirley and Chester brought up their family in Sudbury, Ontario. Upon Chester`s retirement from the nickel mines, they moved back to Cherry Hill, Nova Scotia. She was known for her `green thumb` and her love of animals, especially her cats. Her pride and joy was her family, whom she was always there for.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Tim (Lisa G.) Vanderhoof, BC; Alan (Ingrid C.), First Peninsula; Jeffry (Linda R.), Cherry Hill; daughters, Cheryl Nowe Jensen (Pete), Fredericton; Melanie Conrad (Craig), East Port Medway; sister, Corinne Bichard (Hal L), Falconbridge, Ont; 11 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Chester in 2007; step-mother, Olga (Bowers) Nauss in 2013 and her granddaughter, Allison Nowe in 2017. Shirley`s kind and generous nature will be dearly missed by all whose life she touched.
A celebration of Shirley`s life will take place 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 in the Middlewood United Church, 18440 highway 103, Middlewood. Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Cherry Hill; reception to follow at Cherry Hill Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, SPCA or Hope for Wildlife.
