Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear mother and grandmother. Having gotten to know Lily and Kathryn and extended family, we understand what a graceful and compassionate person Nona was. She cast her brilliance on all of us. Our few visits with her were so special to us.

Lesley, Kathryn, and Alexandra, I am sorry to hear of Marguerite’s passing. I know that her last visit to Springdale was special for you all, as we had an opportunity to sit and catch up. She got to visit uncle Baxter’s and aunt Edy’s gravesite which she was longing to do.
Sending sincerest condolences to you and family.

To Marbie's family.
I was so sorry to read about the passing of Marbie. She was a wonderful person. Marbie volunteered with the DesBrisay Museum in Bridgewater for over 10 years in a number of capacities until 2003, and will be sorrily missed by her many museum friends. We especially liked to hear about her latest rug hooking project. I am sure her many museum friends will also have fond memories to share. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

To Lesley, Kathryn and Andra: Please accept my deepest sympathies regarding the loss of your dear Mum. Marbie was such a wonderful friend to my parents and me, and we all came to love her very much. She was such a part of our journeys to Nova Scotia and she contributed greatly to wonderful memories of our times there. As you noted, your mother always had a twinkle in her eye, and she was such a bright person, so widely read, so kind and hospitable. She was always so interested in others, and what was happening in their lives. I will really miss being invited to tea and spending time with such a lovely person. Happily however, she was the matriarch of a terrific family and her spirit will iive on through you, your children and your grandchildren. Thank you Marbie for everything. May we all aspire to live our lives as you did.
I will not be able to join you on the 23rd, but will be with you in spirit.
Chris Chance,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mother was a great human being. I liked her. She was warm, friendly and very cognizant of the world around her and her place in the world. A tribute to her are you three children who are solutions in the world. Adieu Marguerite. We shall all miss you!!

Marbie was the Queen of West Dublin. All that was missing was her crown.
My favourite memory of Marbie was a few years ago in, of all places, Ron Corkum's garage in Conquerall Bank. We were both having work done to our cars, which, fortunately, took quite a while. As we waited we talked about what we were reading, laughed about this and that and had a grand time. Marbie was a comfortable in a garage as she likely would have been at the Ritz.
I'm sorry I didn't visit Marbie as I promised myself I would. But I'm grateful to have our garage chat to hold close to my heart.
Thinking of all of you, dear family.

Over my years as a caregiver I've had the privilege of spending time and caring for some wonderful individuals. Marble was exceptional. I have a floodgate of memories over the 10 months I lived with her.
We initially had a rocky start in her insistence of not wanting a change in her independent life. It's hard to let go of a lifetime of that. With some gentle persuasion and the subtle way we communicated we settled into a routine, over the months to come. I believe we enjoyed each other's company.
The many talks about her nursing, her husband that left before her and the her travels are just some of the conversations we shared.
My love of crochet and Marbie's expertise in hooking were some of the quality times I will remember always. She would say "I will make you a hooker before you know it". We could sit for hours on end and just absorb the time.
I knew and appreciated the wise gentle soul I was in the company of. We shared the love of travel. The countless hours we spent on the front the deck soaking up the sun, talking about the adventures she had and the ones I had coming up.
On a good day travelling to the bookstore was another favourite. We both agreed that Andra had the best job in the world and we both wanted to move in.
She shone when she spoke of her children and grandchildren. They were such a beacon in her to live. She loved you all endlessly.
Thank you to the Ellwood family for entrusting me with such a treasure as Marbie.
Our Father called upon you to come home. I can hear Him say, "Well done Mary Marguerite, well done."

The many hours we spent on the deck sunning ourselves with the quiet conversations are a treasure for me.

Our family wishes to express our sincere condolences to Marguerite’s family upon her passing. She was such a kind and gentle person who had such a positive outlook on life. We had the pleasure of rekindling our relationship Marguerite, Gwen and their families after many years without contact when our son John was living in Bridgewater where he was contacted by Marguerite and Gwen. What a treat it was to be able to spend a little time and share memories with them during our visits to the south shore. Marguerite enriched the lives of others.

The world has lost an angel. Like her obituary says, Marguerite's home was a home for all. She always made sure everyone who entered her home felt warm and loved, including having some sweets and tea to sooth the soul.
She taught me a lot about welcoming people into my own life, for that I am eternally grateful. She also taught me grace and gratitude, for she was always reminding us of all the things to be grateful for in our lives.
Marguerite had the gift to find the most simplest solutions to the most complex problems, which always had peace as her ultimate objective. I love how her roots have spread all around her, as her family continues to grow around her home.
I am so fortunate to have been a part of Marguerite's life for over 30 years. I will cherish all the memories forever. Bless the hole family in this sad and reflective time.
