Obituary of Merrill William Sarty

SARTY, Merrill William – Age 90 of Conquerall Mills, passed away on December 26, 2018 in the South Shore Regional Hospital. Born in Lapland, he was a son of the late Wallace Sr. and M. Eva (Wile) Sarty.

Merrill was a school bus driver for 27 years and devoted his life to farming.

Merrill is survived by his loving wife, Claribel (Meisner) of 63 years; sons, William (Katrina); Warren (Patricia); Wendell (Darlene); daughters, Joan (Blair) and Julia (Derrick); grandchildren, Adam, Justin, Jacob, Tegan, Billy, Shawna, Jordan and Candace; step grandchildren, Theresa and Jason; 17 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald, Walter and Wallace Jr. (Myrlene); sister, Sylvia (Ken).

He was predeceased by his brothers, Elwood and Dougald; sisters, Marjorie, Clara and Ruby; grandson Jason.

A visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home,  Bridgewater. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Willis Ott and Paul Jensen officiating. A burial will be held in Ascension Lutheran Cemetery, Conquerall Mills following the service.

It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donation’s in Merrill’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank the Nurses, Dr. Tom McNally at South Shore Regional Hospital and the Palliative Care Team for their care during Merrill’s illness. Also thanks to sitters from Heart to Heart for their wonderful care
