Obituary of Steve Dawson Drew
DREW, Steve Dawson – Age 54, of Barss Corner, passed away February 23, 2019. Born in Bridgewater on July 27, 1964, he was a son of the late Marshall and Doris (Silver) Drew.
Steve is survived by his son, Josh Drew, Stanburne; sister, Wilma Coolen, Chester Basin; brothers, George (Jackie) Drew, Upper Musquodoboit; Charles Drew, Western Shore. Steve was predeceased by brothers, David and Keith, both in infancy.
Stanburne has lost a member of its small community, whose love and passion for the area never wavered. Steve wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but those who knew him enjoyed his quick wit and authenticity. Everything he did, he did for his son Josh. Though he never left “The Hill”, he was always quick to drop what he was doing at any moment to lend a hand. Although we can’t confirm it, we are certain he was born wearing boots and carrying a Husqvarna chainsaw. Steve’s love and passion for the homestead in Stanburne never ceased, and his absence there will be profoundly felt for many years to come.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 and again from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 1 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
