Obituary of John Wesley Conrad

CONRAD, John Wesley – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 26, 2019. John was born in 1957 and spent his childhood years in Kingston, Nova Scotia. He moved to Bridgewater in 1969 and spent the rest of his life in the area, most recently in Wentzells Lake.

John had a life-long love of all things mechanical and graduated from the Automotive Mechanic course at Lunenburg regional Vocational School, a trade he practiced all his life. John loved variety and was lucky enough to work at a number of local garages and dealerships, as well as at dealerships in both Halifax and Kentville. Most recently he worked at Gene Williams Auto Repair in Lunenburg.

John cherished his growing family, took tremendous pride in the success of his sons and cherished their partners. John is survived by his sons, Ryan John (Melissa Griffiths), Newcombville and Anthony Wesley (Nicky Rhuland), Rhodes Corner and their son, Gage. Gage was a special person to John and was in his heart to the very last day.

John was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Conrad, of Hebbville. He is survived by his father, Harold Conrad, of Hebbville; sisters, Judi (Larry) Kinsman, Great Village and Connie (Kevin) Dolliver, Bridgewater; brothers, Reg (Brenda), Scotsburn; Mike (Gail), Bakers Settlement; Jeff (Joanne), Chester Basin; Chris (Sara), Mill Village.

There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 1 p.m., Rev. Willis Ott officiating. A burial will be held at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the QEII Cancer Center NSGD Fund (902) 334-1546.
