Obituary of Frances Marie Lonergan

LONERGAN, Frances Marie - Age 86, of Bridgewater, died peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Hillside Pines Home for Special Care in Bridgewater.  Born in Conquerall Mills, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rosetta (Nowe) Nauss.

Frances enjoyed photography and lovingly assembling her photos in her extensive collection of scrapbooks.  She loved the outdoors, spending time in her garden, and going for long walks. She was a devoted wife and mother who especially loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, LeRoy Lonergan, of Bridgewater. She will be sadly missed by her three children, Marilyn, Wendell (Sharon), and Shelley.  Also surviving her are the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, Amy (Chris), Sarah (Michael) and Nicholas (Rose) and her great grandchildren, Brianna, Ava, and Mason.  She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence and Mildred and by her brothers, Isaac, Maurice, Ralph, Roy, Evan, Donald, Reginald, and John.  She was the last surviving member of her family.

Visitation will be Monday, March 11, 2019 from 7 to 9 p.m., with a funeral service on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 2 p.m. both at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater.  Interment will follow at Pleasantville Cemetery, immediate family only please.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family of the late Frances Lonergan would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have supported her and the family throughout this difficult time.  Special thanks to Dr. Heather Johnson support and compassion, Hillside Pines Home for Special Care for their extraordinary care, Doug and Betty Nauss for their support and to Lynne McDormand who volunteered her time to drive Dad to the hospital to visit her.
