Sincere condolence on Don’s passing.
I met Don when his daughter Ann and I were room-mates in Halifax in the early 80’s. Don and Shirley were still newlyweds at that time and remained each other’s love birds throughout all the years since. Smitten with each other since day 1, true loves of each other’s lives and a testament to beloved commitment. Ann-Marie and I bonded as room-mates and remain great friends to this day - which included Don and Shirley and having the honour of being godmother to Ann’s son Daniel (Don’s grandson), as well as great friend with Ann’s husband Brad Walker.
Don’s comical ability was impressive, immediately welcoming me into the family, which will always leave a life-long footprint in my heart and memory. Don is now together again with Shirley and to those of us who knew him best. RIP to Don - an amazing husband to Shirley, father to Ann, father-in-law to Brad, grandfather to Dan and friend to me - he will always be remembered. xo

I was truly saddened to hear of Don's passing. I came to know him as I volunteer at Soldiers Memorial in Middleton. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Don and spending time with him and "Roger"(his oxygen machine) I came to consider Don a friend and I will miss visiting him at Soldiers. We had some great chats about his wartime experiences and his life overall. My condolences to his family...may he Rest in Peace

You all have our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your father. Don came into my life when I was a young girl when he and his family moved into the same apartment building we lived in. My Dad and he became fast friends and so did his daughter (Brenda) with my older sister. In my senior years in high school I became great friends with Ann-Marie and her Mom became my second Mom. Then came the wedding between Don and Shirley which was a match made in heaven. Over the years we have drifted apart and come back together but I will always remember Don's sweet way he had about him. He always had a hug, a kiss, a smile and a story. He will be missed but I know that he is truly happy to be back with his lovely wife where they will live in eternity.

Mom and Dad are now together again and I know are very happy and that gives us peace. It was a long road for him health wise these past few years and with the loss of Mom made him feel even worse. But they had a wonderful life together and loved each other with their whole hearts. They will be forever missed.
