Obituary of Helen Maude Robar
ROBAR, Helen Maude (Minard) – Age 93, of Wentzell Lake, formerly of New Germany, passed away at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany on Friday, March 15, 2019, where she has been residing.
Helen was born April 30, 1925 in Barss Corner, Lunenburg County, the third child of Freeland Hunt and Helen Maude (Godfrey) Minard. She attended schools in Barss Corner and New Germany, and graduated from Bridgewater Commercial School as a Stenographer. Throughout her career she was employed by several banks and businesses in Bridgewater and New Germany as both a stenographer and a bookkeeper.
In 1951 she married Chester Robar and they settled in New Germany. In the early 1980’s they moved into a new home at Wentzell Lake.
Helen enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and word finds. She looked forward to her yearly vacation at Green Bay. In 2017, Helen moved to Rosedale Home for Special Care, in New Germany, where she thoroughly enjoyed her sunny room that looked over the back garden, her friends, staff and “Ben” from Lexicon Group.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; siblings, baby boy Minard and Barbara Lilian and her husband, Chester.
She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Robar-Bourbonnais (Pierre), Wentzell Lake; and niece, Nancy Robar and her family, of Lee, New Hampshire; several cousins, a niece and several nephews of Chester’s.
By personal request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Private interment will take place at Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner. Memorial donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care Van Fund, 4927 highway 10, New Germany, NS B0R 1E0 or SHAID Animal Shelter, 100 High Street, Suite 138, Bridgewater NS B4V 1V9.
