Obituary of Frank O Theriault
THERIAULT, Frank O. – October 5th, 1936 - May 16th, 2019, passed peacefully with his wife and only daughter by his side at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Frank was born in his home on Prince St. in Bridgewater on October 5th, 1936. After a year the family moved to the corner of Aberdeen Rd. and North St. During this time his parents had a new home built at 121 Aberdeen Rd. He lived there until he graduated high school in 1954 at which time, he went on to train horses in Charlottetown for the summer. He came home and joined the RCAF in October of that same year. He was stationed in Winnipeg for 6 years where he met his lovely wife and they were soon blessed with their daughter, Jacqueline in 1961. After several transfers within Canada, he took his release in 1964. He worked with an engineering firm for 4 months and then was hired by General Motors in Oshawa, where he spent 26 years. He retired in 1990. From there he and Wynann moved to Nova Scotia in 1993, where they have remained. He has been a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, even while away in Ontario. He was active in sports thru coaching and umpiring ball, as well as coaching adult hockey. His main sport was curling in which he excelled. He was a member of the Canadian Legion and member of the GM plant Fire Department. His 4 main interests were harness racing, trains and as many will attest to The Montreal Canadiens. His fourth and top of the list was above all his daughter’s family and beloved wife of 58 years, Wynann. He is predeceased by his mother and father, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by many other family members on both sides. Many thanks go out to the South Shore Regional Hospital doctors and nurses, Lunenburg County VON and palliative care workers, who were overly kind during his illness. Frank and the family wish to thank all the people from near and far for their many many prayers during his battle, especially the St. Joseph’s congregation. A visitation will take place Wednesday, May 22nd from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, with a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bridgewater on Thursday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Family flowers only please.
