Obituary of Geraldine Beverly Zwicker
It is with deep sadness that the family of Geraldine Beverly Zwicker - Age 88, of Rhodes Corner, fell asleep in death on July 3, 2019 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in West Clifford, Jan. 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank Wiley and Myra Mae (Bolivar) Selig.
Geraldine is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Zwicker and daughter, Judy, both of Rhodes Corner.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Kevin Zwicker; her siblings, Randolph, Calvin, Bridan, Havelock, Jewell, Iris, twin sister Bernadine, Kathleen, Myrtus, Cyril, Lorraine and Kenneth.
Geraldine or “Gerry” as she was fondly known, was loved dearly by her husband of 72 years, Raymond and daughter Judy, who both lovingly cared for her for the past 3 years during her illness. Geraldine as a member of the New Germany Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses was baptized August 2, 1974. She was very active in the congregation both in the ministry and at congregation meetings, which she faithfully attended right up until the time her health prevented her from doing so. Gerry greatly enjoyed sharing the Bible’s message for the future with her neighbours and friends. She especially enjoyed sharing the Bible’s promise at Revelation 21: 3 & 4 which promises a time when “sickness and death will be no more” as well as “no more tears and pain”. A promise which was very dear to her heart.
In the Bible at Proverbs 31: 10 – 31 there is a description of a “capable wife” and Gerry certainly was a wife who could check off a lot of the boxes in that description. Over the years Gerry was employed at Canada Packers and Nova Scotia Community College to name a few. All who knew Gerry knew her to be a hard worker whether in the home, outside the home, gardening, or secularly. With a “waste not, want not” mentality Raymond and Gerry made a fine home for themselves and their daughter. Gerry will be sadly missed by her husband Raymond, daughter Judy and all her friends who knew and loved her. We all look forward to the time when Jehovah fulfills the promise at Revelation 21 and we will see our dear Gerry again.
