Obituary of Douglas Norman Himmelman

Himmelman, Douglas Norman - Age 80 of Upper Branch, passed away October 21, 2019 in Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born May 20, 1939, he was a son of the late Laurie and Marion (Peach) Himmelman. He is survived by daughters, Della (Ying) Lou, Dayspring; Mary (Robert) Daniels, Upper Branch; grandchildren, T.C (Jen), Carissa (Vernon), Johnny, Daniel (Kalei), Katie and Charlene (Ken); great-grandchildren, Dante, Myah, Autumn, Lilly, Levi, Dean, Kyle, Emily, Samantha, Serena “Rusty”, Caleb and Maddy; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice; sister, Brenda; brothers, David and Eddy.

Douglas worked as a baker at Sobeys and other places in Bridgewater. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and working on cars. He spent time as a fisherman and loved being near the ocean. In his later years, Douglas enjoyed working as a cook for the teen and junior camp at Faith Baptist Bible Camp, Long Lake.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Friday, October 25 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 26 in Faith Baptist Chapel, Lunenburg; Pastor Steve Hiltz officiating. Family interment to follow in Dayspring Cemetery, Dayspring. A reception will follow the service at the church. Family flowers only, please. Donations in Douglas’s memory may be made to Faith Baptist Bible Camp Fund.
