My sincere condolences to Tom’s family. I am an old schoolmate of Tom’s from our beloved Thompson High School in North Sydney. I am so glad that I reconnected with Tom at our high school reunions in Bedford. Tom invited my cousin and me to lunch a couple of years ago. We met in Chester, Halfway between our homes, for the lunch where Tom brought along photos of all his family to show us. He was so proud of you all. Tom was a true gentleman even as a teenager in school. We all enjoyed skating at our local rink. Tom told us he had a piece of the old rink as a momento. He was so pleased To tell us about receiving this momento as a gift and knew we would appreciate the value as we were regulars at the old Northside forum. Tom was a good friend. I am so sad to hear of his death.

Tom was a true gentleman and was respected by all who knew him
Tom’s family always came first, Joy he always had a twinkle in his eye when you were there and I recall how he lit up when talking about his daughters and his grandsons
Then there was his dedication to his community through public life and through his volunteerism. When Tom got involved in a project success was always near. He was a hard worker and result driven.
Tom loved to have fun with his family and friends and I know he will be dearly missed
Again my sincerest condolences to the Bird family.
