Raymond Zwicker

Obituary of Raymond Chester Zwicker

It is with deep sadness that the family of Raymond Chester Zwicker - Age 94, of Rhodes Corner, announce his falling asleep in death on December 11, 2019 peacefully at home. Born in Newcombville, June 12, 1925, he was the son of the late Ellard and Edna (Garber) Zwicker.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Judy of Rhodes Corner and brother, Mervin of Liverpool; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of over 70 years, Geraldine Zwicker (Selig); grandson, Kevin Zwicker; sister, Beatrice Beck; brothers, Lorne, Everette, Leaman, Lawrence and Merrill.

Raymond as a member of the New Germany Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses was baptized July 13, 1985. He was very active in the congregation both in ministry and at congregation meetings, which he faithfully attended right up until the time his health prevented him from doing so. Raymond greatly enjoyed sharing the Bible’s message for the future with his neighbours and friends. He especially enjoyed sharing the Bible’s promises like John 5:28, 29 which promises a real hope of being reunited with your dead loved ones in the resurrection, which gave him great comfort. He also liked Revelation 21:3-4 which promises a time when “sickness and death will be no more” as well as “no more tears and pain”.

Raymond worked many years with the Department of Highways in Chester and became a Superintendent before he retired. He loved the outdoors and had a green thumb when it came to his flower and vegetable gardens. He truly enjoyed going to his wood lot, chainsaw in hand and did this until he was almost 90. Even then he still cut up kindling to use and to sell.

Raymond will be sadly missed by daughter, Judy and all his friends who knew and loved him. We all look forward to the time when Jehovah fulfills the promise at John 5 and we see our dear Raymond again.
