Obituary of David Wayne Gogol
GOGOL, David Wayne - It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving and wonderful husband and father, David. David, Age 68, of Drumheller Alberta, passed away on January 15th, 2020 at his home in Mahone Bay, NS.
Born in Drumheller, AB, on May 6th, 1951, he was the son of the late Victor Gogol and Lucille (Dwernychuk) Etter. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Eileen (McClellan); daughter, Brennan; son, Victor; daughter-in-law, Joelle (Nickerson); brother, Taras Gogol (Linda); nephew, Andre (Allison). He is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Tamar.
David could usually be found out in the sun tinkering with his many projects or simply enjoying the day with his friends and family. In his youth he was a great outdoorsman, loving all things fishing and hiking. His hobbies included fixing up cars and motorcycles, doing home renovations, playing music with Brennan, shooting, and talking movies with Victor. David’s main getaway was travelling to Mexico with his many friends; he loved nothing more than a hot day, and a cold margarita.
After moving to Westbank, BC, David and Eileen raised their beautiful children amongst the cherry orchards near Lake Okanagan. They all later moved to picturesque Mahone Bay, NS, after a few years in New Brunswick. There he lived out his retirement years biking the many trails, tinkering in the garage, listening to music, and above all else soaking up the sun.
David is remembered by his family as being a compassionate, loving, giving husband and father, a complicated and kind man, who was always free with his hugs and ended every night with an “I love you,” and “Goodnight goodnight goodnight.”
