Obituary of Greta Albertha Hirtle
HIRTLE, Greta Albertha – Age 92, Dublin Shore, passed away on Saturday January 25, 2020, in Hillside Pines Nursing home, Bridgewater surrounded by family and friends. Born in Bedford, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Leander and Etta (Wile) Snyder.
Greta is survived by her daughter, Marianne (Andre) Gaudet, Hebbs Cross; sons, George (Sheila), Lower Branch; David (Bonita), Crousetown; grandchildren, Scott, Ben, Tiffany, Justin, Tammy, Tracy and Claire; great grandchildren, Jasmine, Logan, Lucas, Kylie, Savanna, Braxton, Shayla, Mya and Mason. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton “Ellsworth” Hirtle; sister, Marguerite Snyder; brothers, Murray, William and Roy.
Greta lived most of her life in Dublin Shore enjoying the sounds of the waves on the shore. She loved getting visitors accompanied by a good conversation with lots of laughs. She will always be remembered for her sharing of stories and memories, chocolates, scratch tickets and especially for her love of bingo and a good game of cards. Special thanks to all the people who helped mom stay in her home and extended thanks to the staff of Hillside Pines Nursing Home, who cared for Greta with love and compassion throughout her stay.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in Sweeny’s Chapel, Bridgewater with Rev. Simon Davies officiating. Reception to follow service. Following reception, a burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery, West Dublin. Family flowers only by request.
