Tuesday, February 11, 2020
Hi Pam,
This is Dave MacLeod - I attended Dalhousie University during the same time as Rick. My wife Lisa and I attended your wedding in Woodstock (that's a ways ago, eh?) Jim Nemeth was my roomate in Henderson House, alongside Harry Delong. It's been awhile (40+ years), so this history may refresh a memory. I now reside in Riverview, NB (27 years).
I just learned of Rick's passing today; it definitely made me draw a deep breath. Rick showed that he was a sincere, friendly, kind and compassionate person from the moment I met him. Quick to smile, he had a healthy sense of humour, and was never on a high horse. Very concerned about others, always. A pretty smart fellow, too.
Please accept our sincere sympathies on your loss of Rick - i know how close you are to him. May God take good care of you both.
Sincerely,
David and Lisa Macleod

Dear Pam
My condolences.
Sorry not to make it to Rick's memorial(stormy weather)
Rick and I shared many moments in medical school together.(alphabetical arrangement)
He was most proud of his mathematics degree, working as a truck driver, his father being a bank manager and of going home to Bridgewater with the love of his life, Pam.
He lived a "golden life" until recently.
Wishing you strength to go on with these "golden moments" forever ablazed in your heart.
With my thoughts,
Peter Lee

Have known Rick since about 1960 when we both started school. Spent quite a bit of time together up through school. After high school both kind of went our separate ways, Rick to university, me to work in family business.
Still very hard to believe the Rick has passed. There are so many good things to say about him I would not no where to start. I will just say he was a very highly respected guy. I have never heard any negative comments about Rick. Can't say that about many people; but in his case, I believe it is true.
Rest in peace my friend; and condolences to all of Rick's family.

I’m very sad to hear of Dr. Kydd’s passing. I have been a patient of his since I was born and also briefly worked with him at SSRH at the beginning of my nursing career. He was always so patient and kind when I was dealing with him, both as his patient and on a professional level. He will be truly missed. I will be donating blood this coming week in his honour.

He was a long time physician to my father and husband. Rick would visit my father, Bill Clark at Ridgewood (yes he even made house calls!).....every time he came and sat down to talk, my father would say "Nice shoes Rick"......Rick would just have a quiet smile on his face. That you should lose a battle so well fought after a lifetime of true dedication to your calling is a gross injustice. My heart aches for your wife, your boys, your grandchildren, your Mom and your siblings and for all the people who are struggling without you. The world is just a little darker without your light. May the wings you hid so well beneath those perfectly pressed shirts carry you high - an angel there now, as you were here. There is no doubt in my mind that you will find a way to watch over all those you held most dear. ❤

Richard Kydd has been my family doctor for the past 30 years, as well as my mother and father for many more years. I started suffering with severe anxiety and depression at the age of 12. Without his support, I would not be here today to give my condolences. His support for his patients is something to be admired.
I have spent countless hours since my early teens in that office where not once did I feel like a hindrance. Richard new my anxiety better than I did, and in November of 2018 I lost one of the only people who truly new what I was going through, and he was about to embark on his own health journey.
Richard was someone for who for a while, I saw once a week. If it was sunny outside, he'd be sure to let me know to get out and enjoy it, because I'm pretty sure in his mind, he believed it was the best medicine.
I saw Richard for the last time on August 30th, 2018.
My sincere condolences go out to Pam and the entire family, as well as all of the other patients he touched.

We are deeply saddened to hear Rick is gone. Rick was a student in Dad's "manual arts" class many years ago. As a student he cared enough to visit Dad when Dad was flat on his back with a back injury and then became he and Mom's Dr. later on . As they grew older I visited his office with them and when they could no longer travel to him he traveled to them at home and in Ridgewood.
I also visited him as a Dr. with grandchildren and he had great patience and wisdom in dealing with them as well as my parents.
The world will be a sadder place without his jokes and wisdom. Our condolences to the family and all who loved him.
