Obituary of Susan Louise Doane

It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Louise Doane, age 63 of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., announces her unexpected passing on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at home. Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Beryl and Doris (VanAmburg) Doane.

Susan was well known to all who knew her as a positive light who truly cared about others more than herself. This was evident with the number of years Susan dedicated to the care of her mother before her passing in 2004. Susan spent most of her career working at the Victoria General Hospital in the X-ray department. She retired after 33 years and enjoyed moving back to Bridgewater full time. Susan was a dedicated member of Bridgewater Baptist Church where she was highly involved including the church choir.

Susan is survived by her brother, Gary, Bridgewater; nephew, Peter(Amy), Bridgewater; niece, Beth-Ann (Scott), Hebbville; as well as their children, Brooke-Lynne, James and Madison.

She was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother, James. There will be no visitation by request. A family graveside service will be held at the Chegoggin Baptist Church Cemetery, Cheggogin, Yarmouth County, with Rev. Douglas Porter officiating. Family flowers only. There will be no reception, however, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridgewater Baptist Church, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the QEII Nova Scotia Cancer Centre as well as the Chemo unit at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater for their care and compassion.
