Just ran across Wayne's obit as I was doing my genealogical thing. My condolences to the family.
Wayne and I grew up together in downtown Bear River and although I did not know it then we are 3rd cousins via our father's side! Although we had not seen each other for over 40 years, I can tell you from the photos that I would have still recognized him on the street! Fondest and sharpest memories are when I was about 12 and he perhaps 14 or so, and our fathers would take us down Sissaboo to Walter's camp on Saturday nights in the fall. Something to eat, the fire would get cranked up, and we'd fall asleep listening to Lee More and Juanita on WWVA, Wheeling West Virginia!! At the crack of dawn the two of us would let ourselves out of the camp with a shotgun and sneak up to a wild apple tree about 200 yards behind the camp. Almost inevitably there would be one or two grouse in the tree, and we'd take lunch home by the hind leg!

Sincere sympathy to the Wayne's family. Cliff and I worked with Flash at Nova Scotia Power in Bear River for quite a few years. He was always ready to talk about trucks, cars and pretty much anything on wheels, the newer the better. He always had a wave and a honk of the horn whenever he saw us either driving or walking all those miles around his Bear River loop. He will be missed in Bear River.

My sincere condolances to the family. May he rest in peace. Wayne worked out the Digby NSP office for many year where i worked also. He would always be tormenting the girls in the office , telling a good joke, and just being Wayne. I will never forget his laugh.

Our sincere condolences to Julie, Linwood and Evan. Whenever you went to Bear River a few years ago, you would always see your dad walking somewhere in the village and then the last few years, he could be seen sitting in Bear River watching the sights. He was always friendly, joking and had time to chat. Him and Walter always had lots of Dodge talk. I pray your great memories will give you comfort at this time.

As time passes there's always a fear knowing the loss of a loved one is inevitable. Reality never prepares us for the day we are faced with such grief and January 16th, was one of those days! I've known Wayne for 40+ years through our mother (Essie's) partner who passed before him. They loved camping, new vehicles and stray cats at times upwards of 20 providing shelter and food in their back yard and, just loved life in general. Wayne's dry sense of humor, his kindness towards others and members of his community plowing driveways etc; was noteable and respected.
Although Wayne's chapter in life is over, he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts until we meet again!
Rest In Peace friend..
