Obituary of Roberta Eulalie Sarty Macnab

Roberta Eulalie Sarty Macnab died February 26, 2021 at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater.
Born November 10, 1927 to Bernard and Clara Sarty of West LaHave, Roberta excelled in all she did. Her education began at Fralic School, West LaHave and the Lunenburg Academy. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts at Acadia University and Master of Arts at St. Mary's University. After graduation from Teachers College, Truro, she taught at Upper LaHave, Pentz, Lunenburg Academy, Cornwallis School and Gottingen St. School, Halifax, Saarbrucken School, Germany, Nepal in India, Tanzania, South Africa, and Czechoslovakia. Her final teaching years were at Normal College in Truro. Roberta loved to travel and visited across Canada, much of the USA, England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, France, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Scandinavian countries, Iceland and cruises to Alaska, around South America and the Panama Canal. After retirement, Roberta dedicated much of her time to charities and various volunteer roles. She was the area representative of the Alumni Association of the NS Teachers College, a Girl Guide leader and she belonged to the Historical Society in LaHave. Roberta loved her Samoyed dogs and enjoyed gardening. She was an accomplished cook, winning many competitions. Roberta is survived by sister Mavia, nephews Allan, David and niece Heather Dunford, seven step- children, Andrew, Jessica, John Macnab, and Jennifer, Janet, Andrew, Colin James. She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Clara Sarty, brother Elliott, sister Madelyn, first husband Rev. Duncan Macnab, second husband John James. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Due to Covid, a service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society, St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, or Acadia University.
