To the Family of Jean Marshall,
We had the pleasure of hosting your mother at our home on a few occasions while visiting Cambridge, Ontario with Marny Patterson's (Invitation to Live Ministries). She gifted us with one of her CD's each time and we still enjoy listening to her. She was the most delightful houseguest and we came to love her dearly and looked forward to having her with us. Our last visit with her was in Bridgeport in August of 2018, we were on our return home from a trip to Newfoundland and happened to stay overnight in Bridgewater, we called her and she had dinner with us in a restaurant. It was a wonderful visit. We have so many fond memories of her as she most definitely touched our lives with her love, humor and faith. I accidently came across her Obituary online a few days ago and we were saddened to see that she had passed away. We just finished watching her "Celebration of Life" and it was such a beautiful Tribute done by so many of the family. God Bless you all, we felt as if we were there with you all. We enjoyed the pictures and the music very much. Our sincerest condolences go out to your family, she was a GREAT Lady!

To the family if Jean Marshall:
I had the wonderful luck of being seated next to Jean during choir practice and in the choir loft in the sanctuary. I am afraid that the poor choir director, Debbie Zwicker, must have rued the day because I am happy to say my sense of humour and hers were vastly alike. Sometimes I wonder why we never got kicked out!!! It was funny to me that getting hearing aids was mentioned in the service, because she used to take them out on a Sunday morning when she had to sing a solo and hand them to me. She said that the sound system interfered with her hearing herself sing.
I will always count myself lucky and honored to have known her. She was a wonderful role model and just a joy to be with, whether in choir or in public. She visited my home on several Canada day celebrations and at Christmas as well. I will never forget her.

I first met your Mom & Dad through my In-Laws, Paul & Thelma Crosby, who knew your Mom in Yarmouth. Over time,I met most of your Family through Ernie. We both treasured Jean's Concerts & Singing Occasions. When Ernie died in May/05, I timidly asked Lorne White to ask Jean to sing "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" for his Funeral. Afterwards, Jean shared that though that song was very familiar, she teared up & almost lost her place, as she saw a very young & lonely Ernie, as she sang it, at his bed in the old Hfx Children's Hospital.(As a young woman, she came to Hfx to sing.) May God grant you many memories to help heal your great loss.

Susan (Hill) Grant - My sincere condolences to all of Jean Marshall's family. I have some great memories of your mom. My mother Muriel (Goodwin) Hill, who passed away this February 9th and Jean were great buddies growing up in Yarmouth. They used to sing together in a ladies choir, I remember seeing them all dolled up for their performance from a picture that mom had shown me.
I remember growing up in Dartmouth that we used to visit your family in Halifax, many years ago. Your mom also sang at my wedding in 1971, mom was so proud to have her do this for us.
I used to keep track of your mom through a friend of mine who used to sing in the choir with her. I was always glad to hear that she was still well and singing.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you all, it is a void we can never replace in our life.

TO ALL THE FAMILY, Yours is a rich Christian heritage from parents who
touched my teenage heart with their music and witness at Baptist Convention in Wolfville in the early 1950's.. Thereafter I watched for news of them, and concerts.
When dear Jean joined us at Bridgewater Baptist Choir it was a joy being
seated in Choir with her, especially at Choir practise and my daughter, Debbie
Zwicker and I enjoyed every minute in her dynamic and uplifting presence. How we
shall miss this beautiful singing lady. We all loved her. Now I think of her in her
new home on high singing with the Heavenly Choir. May God bless you all and
surround your hearts with peace as you go forward. In Sincere Sympathy and
with thankfulness for a life well lived. Marlean Rhodenizer

How well we remember the Middleton celebration of Jean's 50th birthday, now almost 40 years ago! Since those Middleton days,
our paths have diverged, but the friendship has continued. Now, though she is no longer with us, the beautiful memories of our relationship with this amazing lady will be forever treasured. We are so very thankful to have been able to call Jean our friend.

First, many thanks to Gwen Trask (five years' Jean's senior) for letting us know about this. Gwen and my mother, Vera Sollows, were good friends of Jean's during school days back in Yarmouth, and Jean's mother, Nellie, and my grandmother, Mildred Higby, were also good buddies.
I remember Jean from a couple of visits to Yarmouth when I was young. Yup, her outgoing sense of humour was the life of the party (or even of the museum visit!).
Sorry to hear she has left us, but she is in a good place, now.

Dear Ones,
To have heard Jean sing was to hear a piece of Heaven! In the Annapolis Valley, where I live, she was infamous, especially in the Church world. God bless you all with His peace and comfort during this time of sadness and rejoicing. As Apostle Paul said so long ago, "...that you sorrow not, even as others who have no hope", I Thess. 4: 13 (b). Jean believed this, and we can rest assured that she is now resting in the "Everlasting Arms" Whom she sung about so many times throughout the years! What rejoicing there will be on "That Glad Reunion Day"!

Sincere sympathy to you all on the passing of a wonderful, wonderful lady- so willing to share her God given talent. Indeed- that is how I fist encountered Mrs. Marshall - she sang at the ‘Spring Forth’ gathering for Christian Youth. It was a fully booked event and I can clearly, some 50 years later, recall how her un-amplified voice filled Mount Allison’s convocation hall! What a memory I still hold dear and thought of many times through the years. May God grant you wonderful memories of your Mom as you grieve and in the years ahead.

Jean was a great combination of talent and humility, fun-loving and thoughtful, gentle in spirit and a warrior when it was warranted. I had the privilege of playing in the NS Youth Orchestra as a teenager when Jean sang with us - what a treat. She was also a great asset to the choir and church activities at Bridgewater Baptist where I would cross paths with her on days I would be playing with my sister Debbie or substituting for Debbie as the Sunday service organist/pianist. I have accompanied Jean for several of her many solo offerings during the service. Always a delight. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed as well.
