Obituary of Judith Elaine Varner

 

VARNER, Judith Elaine "Judy" – Age 91, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Jean (MacNair) Taylor.

Judy spent her working years as a hairdresser and for many of those, volunteered with the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, styling hair and providing haircuts to the residents. She was an avid volunteer with the local chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society and the South Shore Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, where she was a member of the former ACW, altar guild, choir and a cast member of the Parish Players Dinner Theatre. Judy worked tirelessly for the church and the various organizations for which she was associated with. She loved gardening and was an avid sports fan.

Surviving is her loving husband of 71 years, Maynard Arthur Varner; sons, Art (Nan) Varner, East River; Joel Varner, Fairmont Hot Springs, BC; grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Buckland, Tantallon; Sarah-Jean (Chris) Mannette, Timberlea; Emily (Andy) Casali, Airdrie, AB.; Angela Varner (Dan), Calgary; Josée Varner, Ben Varner, both of Calgary; great grandchildren, Connor Buckland, Maddox Mannette, Alice Mannette, Noah Casali, Daniel Casali, Lucy Casali, Lilah Casali; brother-in-law and sister in-law, Basil  (Yvonne) Varner; niece and nephews, Melanie (Kevin) O'Leary, David (Linda) Russell, Paul (Sandra) Varner and many cousins.

No visitation at the funeral home by request. A Service of Remembrance will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, November 6 in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany with Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church or cemetery fund, South Shore Regional Hospital Auxiliary or Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the amazing nursing staff of the 4th floor of South Shore Regional Hospital for their love, compassion and outstanding care provided to Judy and the family during her illness.
