Obituary of Sylvia Gwendolyn Munro

MUNRO, Sylvia Gwendolyn (Mossman) – Age 96, of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, died on May 16, 2022, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Sylvia was born on September 11, 1925, in Pinehurst, Nova Scotia, daughter of Percy and Glenice Mossman.

On July 19, 1941, she married George Douglas Munro of Bridgewater. After the war, they settled in Dayspring and ran the Holmes Dry goods store in Bridgewater for many years. In their early years, they enjoyed ballroom dancing, and later, countless games of bridge. They had many happy years at Green Bay and winters in Florida. For many years, Sylvia was involved with Eastern Star (being a 50-years plus member) and Daughters of the Nile. She also thoroughly enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great granddaughter – they meant a lot to her.

She is survived by sons, Brian (Brenda) Munro, Hubbards; Richard (Anna) Munro, Ottawa; daughter, Renee Munro, Halifax; two grandchildren, Carolyn, and Matthew (Lesley Marshall); great granddaughter, LJ. She was pre-deceased by husband, Douglas, and brother Donald (Marjorie) of Ontario.

Cremation has taken place, and a Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, on June 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
