Obituary of Celia Kathleen Clattenburg

Celia Kathleen Clattenburg 86, of Pleasantville, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully with her husband and some family members by her side, at home on Friday, September 4, 2009. Born in Pleasantville on July 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alfretta (Crouse) Richard. As a young and ambitious adult she was employed at the Halifax Dockyards. She returned home shortly thereafter to care for her ailing mother. She continued throughout her life to be a superb wife, homemaker and caregiver. If she had any spare time you would find her in one of her many flower gardens working and or volunteering within the community. She was for years a member, choir person and secretary-treasurer of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Conquerall Bank. Surviving is her husband Ralph, son Dale (Susan) of Lower Sackville; three grandchildren, Mark of Lower Sackville; Steven (Andrea) of Peterborough, Ontario and Julie (Jamie) Mason of Mahone Bay. During her last few months she adored the many visits from her only great grandchild, Aden Cordell Mason of Mahone Bay. She was predeceased by brothers, Murray of Pleasantville and Arthur of Mahone Bay. Visitations will be at Sweeny’s Funeral Home of Bridgewater from 6-8pm on Monday, September 7, 2009. Funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, September 8th from the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Conquerall Bank by the Reverend William Gustafson. Private family burial will follow in the West LaHave Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com. A special thank you from the family to her many caregivers over the last few years.
