Obituary of Shirley May Crouse

CROUSE, Shirley May – Age 84, of Blockhouse, passed away on November 6, 2022, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born and raised in Hemford, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hilda (Crouse) MacKay. Shirley is survived by brother, Donnie (Leverne) MacKay; sister, Beulah Turner; son, Phillip (Nicki) Crouse; daughter, Linda (Gus) Benoit; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Elvin MacKay; sisters, Arleen MacKay and Daisy Meisner.

Shirley worked for many years as a nursing assistant at Riverview Enhanced Living, in Dayspring. In her spare time, one could find her out in her gardens, fishing, or playing cards. While she was an avid chicken breeder, she loved any and all animals. Many hours were spent with chickens, horses, goats, and rabbits.

Keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or public services. A private family graveside service will be held in Lakeview Cemetery, Pleasant River. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to C.F.
