Obituary of Gregory Robert Eagle
EAGLE, Gregory Robert – Age 50, of Pine Grove passed away on March 13, 2023, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on October 13, 1972, Greg was the son of Robert Eagle, and the late Elaine (Fancy) Eagle, of Newcombville.
Greg loved his cars, and loved keeping them clean, squeaky clean! He cleaned his black Capri so much; he rubbed the paint off the back bumper. Talking cars or trucks was normally a part of a good conversation with Greg. He really enjoyed going to car shows. Greg was never scared of hard work! He enjoyed helping family and friends with their property tasks in his spare time, especially the ones that required his incredible physical strength! He was well recognized for his hard work. Greg loved to make people laugh and smile, was very thoughtful and always spoke to people with respect and kindness. Greg was known as a sweet and kind person. He occasionally went mackerel fishing, only to give the fish away! Haha. And Greg always loved a good ol’ peanut butter and jam sandwich.
Greg was a beast of an athlete and a great competitor with Special Olympics N.S., but was also known as a “pain-in-the-ass” to coach as well. Haha. He was known for his chatting and flirting. Greg elevated others in the Special Olympics, with his determination and spirit, and got to travel Canada with Special Olympics N.S. Floor hockey, powerlifting and speedskating, were some of his strongest events he competed in. Greg also competed in Snowmobile Drag Racing, at a competitive level, with his father in the later part of his teen years. For many years, he was employed with Town and Country Property Improvements, and could be seen doing property maintenance around Walmart and the area. Before his passing, Greg was employed at Boston Pizza, which included lots of new friends and where he loved to show off his dance moves and antics for his colleagues.
Greg is survived by his father, Robert; sister, Sandra (Cory) Eagle-Cross, Pine Grove; nephew, Erik Cross, Pine Grove; girlfriend, Linda Bezanson, Pine Grove; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Elaine.
Greg passed peacefully with his family by his side, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. The family would like to thank the nurses of 3rd floor and ICU, for their kindness and compassion during Greg's final days/hours.
A private Graveside Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Special Olympics N.S. Online condolences and donations may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
Greg will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
