Marsha DeMone

Obituary of Marsha Laverne DeMone

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marsha Laverne DeMone, 75, of New Germany.  She passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cherryfield, Marsha was the daughter of the late Laurie and Elva (Robar) DeMone. Her school days were spent at North River School, New Germany Rural High School and the former Lunenburg Regional Vocational School, Bridgewater.

Marsha was a passionate and gifted athlete during her high school and college days, competing in soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton and track & field. She later added softball and candlepin bowling to her repertoire. Marsha also spent time as a proud basketball coach of a wonderful group of young ladies on the NGRHS Junior Girls Basketball Team.

Upon completion of a two year accounting course, Marsha graduated from LRVS. She immediately began a 23 year career with Michelin, Bridgewater where the last half of her tenure was as a respected Personnel Representative.

For fifteen years following her retirement from Michelin, Marsha did not sit idle.  Over that time she worked with and met many special people at New Germany Irving, Russell's Groceries, Canada Post as a mail driver , DeLong’s Farm Wreaths, Camp Kadimah kitchen and Don Taylor's Law office.

Marsha's lifelong central focus was her family. She lovingly provided a safe haven for many over the years. Her fun-loving nature endeared her to many young people, especially her nieces and nephews.

Marsha is survived by her best friend and partner, Coline MacDonald; brothers, Glenn (Joanne) and Joel (Debbie); sisters, Virginia (Durrell) and Janis (Maurice) and several much loved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand- nephews.

Besides her parents, Marsha was predeceased by her sister, Theresa; her brother, Barry and her grand-niece Olivia Buck.

Marsha's family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to Lunenburg County VON, South Shore Regional Hospital, Dr. Pugh and Rosedale Home for Special Care for their loving and compassionate care of Marsha.
