Obituary of Evelyn Ann Penney

PENNEY, Evelyn Ann – Age 74, of New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the Q.E. II Infirmary site, Halifax. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of Lila Marie (Drew) Veinot, New Germany and the late Gilbert Owen Veinot.

Evelyn always thought of others before herself while living her quiet life. She enjoyed puzzles and the outdoors and especially her gardens. Evelyn loved her family, but her granddaughter Josie was the apple of her eye.

Surviving are her daughters, Lisa (Vince) Downey, Barss Corner; Julie Varner, New Germany; granddaughter, Josie Ramey, Barss Corner; sister, Susan MacPherson, Simpsons Corner; brothers, Franklyn (Dianne) Veinot, Simpsons Corner; David (Betty) Drew, Springfield; nieces and nephews, Tammy MacPherson, Terry MacPherson, Donna Nickerson, Paul Veinot, Danielle Wile and Derek Drew.

Evelyn was predeceased by her father, Gilbert Veinot; husband, Calvin Sinclair Penney; brother-in-law, Barry MacPherson.

By personal request there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private family graveside will take place in Epworth Cemetery, New Germany with Rev. David Lutes officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, South Shore Regional Hospital or a charity of choice.
