Obituary of Wilfred Arthur Joudrey

JOUDREY, Wilfred Arthur – Age 88, of West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a very brief illness. Born on May 24, 1934, in Upper Northfield, he was a son of the late Wilfred Archibald and Bertha Lilly (Veinot) Joudrey.

Wilfred enjoy talking with people and as a painter by trade he had the ability to paint and talk at the same time, with the people that hired him, this gave him great pleasure. Wilfred was also a Christmas tree producer. He loved his tree lot and spent many hours pruning and shearing trees, this brought him much peace and enjoyment. He was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, West Northfield; member of the Rosedale New Horizons Seniors Club, New Germany. Wilfred also served on the Board of Directors for the Maple Grove Cemetery and the West Northfield Community Hall.

Surviving is his daughter, Belinda (Ray) Larade, Lower Northfield; daughter-in-law, Judy McGrath, Maitland; son, Darrell, Halifax; grandchildren, Nicholas (Lindsey), Timothy (Faith), Nicole (Jacob), Emma (Ian), Hannah and Catherine; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his wife, Erna Marguerite (Dauphinee) Joudrey; son, Scott Joudrey; brother, Brenton Joudrey.

Visitation for family and friends, will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, West Northfield. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Private family burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
