Obituary of Gloria Jean McCarthy

MCCARTHY, Gloria Jean – Age 81, of Bridgewater. Gloria passed away peacefully Sunday, October 20, 2023 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Palliative Care Unit.

Born in Trenton, NS, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Prudence (Jollymore) Bruce. In her younger years, Gloria worked at a fish plant and Quality Cleaners. When she met the love of her life, Ronald, she left work to become a stay-at-home Mom. Gloria loved gardening and her many plants and was happiest in her gardens.

Surviving are her son, Steven, Bridgewater; daughter, Angela, Bridgewater; granddaughter, Sophia (Coady), Bridgewater; sister, June (Bob) Yamada, Ontario; special niece, Debbie; and special friend, Sandy Joudrey. Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald; sisters, Helen and Marie; and brother, Butch.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service by the family’s request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Palliative Care Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, or The Rose Fund.
