Obituary of Wayne Austin Zinck

ZINCK, Wayne Austin – Age 76, Lower Northfield, Lunenburg Co., died peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Austin Alvin and Mildred Pauline (Lohnes) Zinck.

Surviving is his son, Tony (Joann) Zinck, Lower Northfield; daughter, Tabatha (Gary) Allen, Whynott Settlement; brother, Merrill (Nancy) Zinck, East LaHave; sister-in-law, Brenda (James) Fancey, Upper Northfield; a niece and several nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen Arlene (Oickle) Zinck.

Wayne had various employers over the years, with the most recent at the hardboard plant in East Chester. Wayne was most dedicated to his positions at Northfield District Fire Department and even after becoming an honorary member, he still spent hours with the department. Many hours were also spent in his "little piece of heaven" at Mush a Mush Lake. Fishing, boating, fire pit, storytelling, and potlucks were his favorite past times.  His laughter was well known through the cove. Wayne enjoyed hockey and for six years was a volunteer with the local Junior A Lumberjacks.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the VON, the palliative care team, Jennifer Riis NP, Dr. du Toit, and Erica Maynard NP, for your loving attention to Dad in his final moments.

By personal request, there will be no visitation or service held at this time. No flowers please, donations may be made in Wayne’s memory to the Northfield District Fire Department or the Canadian Red Cross
