Obituary of Raymond Langile

Raymond Eugene Langille 88, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully August 23, 2007 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, with his son at his side. Born at his home in Bridgewater on August 12, 1919 he was the son of the late Artemis and Annie (Bolivar) Langille. Ray was a veteran of the Second World War where he served proudly as a member of the R.C.A.F.. Upon his return to Bridgewater following his service years he operated a British car dealership near his home on Victoria Rd.. He was an active and life-long member of the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department carrying on the Langille tradition of service to the community in this manner. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing and many “adventures” with his buddy Gus. His summers were always spent at the cottage at Blysteiner Lake which held a very special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife Pearl, daughter Debbie, Bridgewater, son Dennis (Beth) and granddaughter Leanne, Kentville. Stepdaughter Linda Copeland, Bridgewater, stepsons Michael (Carol) Copeland and Dr. Richard (Laura) Copeland, Moncton, N.B.; Jim (Louise) Copeland, Wolfville, sister-in-law Celia Mader, Mahone Bay and many special nieces, nephews and step-grand children. He was predeceased by his first wife Corinne, sisters Beulah Hebb, Lillian Telfer and brothers William (Bill) and Harold. Resting at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater where visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 9pm with a public Legion Tribute Service held at 7pm. Funeral Sevice will be held 2pm Tuesday in the Bridgewater United Baptist Church, King St. with Rev. Sarah Duffy officiating. A family interment will be at the Brookside cemetery followed by a celebration of life at the Bridgewater United Baptist Church. Donations may be made in Ray’s memory to the Bridgewater United Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society or the charitif your choice.
