Obituary of Glen William Brown

BROWN, Glen William – Of Bridgewater. The family of Glen Brown sadly announces his passing on March 13, 2024, at the age of 80. Glen was born in Ville St. Laurent, but grew up in Lachute, Quebec.

Our lives, while crushed by his death, are full of the best memories he left with us and we are proudest of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grand-father and the full life he led, being a remarkable example of what makes a family leader, a community volunteer, sports enthusiast, whether it be curling or sailing, and, all in all, a good solid friend. Glen was always up for any challenge as his days of serving as a Bridgewater Volunteer Firefighter (Captain) were some of his most enjoyable. But then, across the street from the Fire Hall he had some of his best fun with his buddies at the Bridgewater Curling Club. Glen joined Michelin in 1972 and retired as a Supervisor in 2000. The friendships formed at work lasted throughout his life and special friends, like Bill Getson, effortlessly changed Glen’s life once he had a taste of sailing. A past Commodore of LRYC, Glen plunged into his best life on the water, whether it was racing at the Club or in Chester, as a crew member delivering boats to far-flung destinations or spending perfectly happy lazy days with his best bud, Grady.

Glen leaves behind his wife and partner of 60 years, Beverlee, nee Armstrong, his son, Glen-Allen and his sons, Jordan and wife, Skylar and their children, Soleil and Celeste, and his younger son Maddox, daughter, Stacey, & her husband, Jordan Soares & their son, Grady. Habits can be heartbreaking when shattered and the one we will miss the most; Grady’s daily 6pm phone call to Poppy just “checking in”. Glen is also survived by his sister, Melody McKinnon and brother Rick, along with his nephews and niece. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Helen (Allen) Brown.

A celebration of Glen’s life will be held on the water, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the S.H.A.I.D.Tree Animal Shelter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
