Obituary of Barb Wicks
WICKS, F. Barbara - Our beloved aunt, Barb Wicks of Bridgewater, NS, passed peacefully on Friday March 29, 2024 at the age of 79.
Barb was the loving aunt of Meg, Dave (Tracey) and Mike (Leslie); great-aunt of Brad (Stephanie), Kim (Chris), Jordan, Virginia (Josh) and Natasha (Malcolm); and great-great-aunt of Damien, Ethan, Tracy, Riley and Cameron.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Nora, sister Trish (late Charles), brother Charles and nephew John (Sylvia).
Barb’s strong faith led her to be a very active member of the St. Joseph’s parish community in Bridgewater, including playing the organ and piano, as well as singing. She was a founding member of South Shore Chorale. Barb was a Beaver and Cub leader and received numerous awards over her 54 years with Scouts Canada. Barb also enjoyed many other activities, including Relay for Life and bowling. Barb had a long nursing career at the former Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater and then continued working in nursing at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Barb was surrounded by close friends that she considered family, and was a friend to all who met her. Her recent move to Hillside Pines was a blessing and included making many new friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at South Shore Regional Hospital for their compassionate care of Barb. A Memorial Mass, officiated by Father Keith Billard, will be held Friday April 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 123 Pleasant St, Bridgewater. Reception to follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
