Obituary of Muriel Achsah Leslie

LESLIE, Muriel Achsah - It is with deep sorrow, and much love, that we mourn the passing of Muriel Achsah Leslie of New Germany (Rosedale), on May 14th, 2024, at the age of 102.

She will be lovingly remembered by daughter, Joan (Glenn Welsh); as well as Grandchildren, Andrea, Stephen (Paula), and Sam (Claudia); 5 great-grandchildren; Sister, Ramona Himmelman (Brady); as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She will also be missed by the children she was Gran too, for over 20 years, Bill, Penny, and Tanya Eisenhauer. The staff and residents of Rosedale Home for Special Care will also miss her stories and laughter.

Muriel was predeceased by her loving husband, Bob; three infant sons; an infant daughter; father, Calib Bush; mother, Florence (nee Mosher); brothers, Clarence, Rexford (Margaret), Arnold (Opal), Gerald (Elsie), Roy (Marie); sisters, Hila (Harry), Jean (George), and Marion (Donald).

Muriel was born into a large family, one of ten children, in West Dublin. They were raised without indoor water, or electricity. When her mother succumbed to a difficult childbirth, all the children were sent to relatives and friends to live. Muriel lived with her grandparents (Corkum) for a few years, before moving to Bridgewater for work. She worked as a housekeeper/nanny for several families. Muriel settled down to work in the Eisenhauer's household. While she was there full time, she also worked at the bowling ally until she retired.

Muriel never stopped moving. She was always baking, knitting, cleaning, or gardening. She enjoyed trips around the province, and Maine. She welcomed everyone, and always had a story to share. She spent the last few years of her life at Rosedale Home for Special Care. She enjoyed the company, church services, and especially…the food!

Visitation will be held at Sweeny's Funeral home, Bridgewater, from 6-8 pm, Friday May 17th, 2024. Funeral Service will be conducted at Bridgewater United Church, 11 am, Saturday May 18th, 2024, a public Committal Service will be held following the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Muriel's honour to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Association, Canadian Cancer Society, or Rosedale Home for Special Care.

Special thanks go out to the staff of Rosedale, you all made Nanny feel safe and welcome, and us the family as well. Thank you.
