Obituary of June Agnes Dauphinee

DAUPHINEE, June Agnes - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother June Agnes Dauphinee, age 88, on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The daughter of Mary and Henry Martell, June was born in Georgetown PEI and remained an Islander at heart. She made her home in Nova Scotia with Doug, her beloved husband of 58 years. Together they raised their family, selflessly sacrificing their own needs and wants for the sake of their family, spending many happy years in Glen Haven, and later in Wentzell Lake. The simplest pleasures in life gave June the greatest joys. She came from a large family and delighted in her own. Extremely skillful with a sewing needle, June was always happiest at home, surrounded by the chaos of her children and menagerie of animals. It was a home in which the door was never locked. All were welcomed with a smile, counting themselves lucky to sample June’s delicious cooking, preserves and baked goods. She enjoyed her flower garden and loved spending time at the family camp. Always busy and hardworking, June was a quiet woman who could be heard when she thought it necessary. Everyone knew when it was time to come home for dinner, or if they were in trouble when June’s no-nonsense big voice resonated throughout the neighbourhood. That voice will be forever in our hearts.

June is predeceased by her beloved husband Doug and her precious daughters, Kathy Ann and Cindy.

She is profoundly mourned and will be deeply missed by her children, Anthony (Frances), Timothy (Brenda), Gregory, Mark (Kornelia), Randolph (Susan), Dawn (Travis); her son-in-law, Blaine Hubley; her grand and great-grandchildren; and extended family.

A huge thanks to Jacob Pilon and the amazing group at Whitehills Long Term Care Centre, Hammonds Plains, for their marvelous care and compassion.

Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27 in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. Rev. Patrick Morris officiating. Private family interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, New Canada.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter.
