We are so sad to hear of James’ passing. I have known James for approximately 75 years when my brother,Jim, and I were lost in the woods behind our home in Bridgewater and he took us home. James loved sailing on the Bluenose as a helmsman and in his double ended fishing boat. James was friend to all he met and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.Sending our condolences,
Sincerely, Vern Shaffner and family.

James made sure that all his Bridgewater Highschool friends could hear and dance to the newest and best music of the 50’s. He loved to dance himself and was so good at it!
Summers at Green Bay, sailing, mussels at Porters Mountain and so much more. Miss you.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of James. Linda and I grew up with James on Empire Street and shared many years of listening to music and dancing at the MacKenzie house. James always held the title of the best dancer at Bridgewater High School. We all enjoyed the mussel parties James put on at Porter’s Mountain with all our school friends. He has left a mark on our lives which we will hold dear in our hearts.
May the fond memories the family hold dear comfort all of you at this difficult time.
Our sincere sympathy,
Donnie and Shirley Ann (Langille). Sullivan

I met Jim in Green Bay in the mid 1950’s. Spent many summers hanging with “Jamse” boating, camping, playing tag football on the beach in front of the canteen and riding in his Dad’s bread truck all over the place. Not being adept on the dance floor, I marveled at how light on his feet he was for his size. Had the pleasure of visiting Porter Mountain about ten summers ago. Great time. Saw many old friends. Jim, thank you for being such a big part of my time and memories in Green Bay. God bless you.

Such grand memories of Jim as my watch mate on Bluenose II way back in 1964-65, and in the years since. His skills on the schooner were constant. He encouraged me to take on the main topsail. Condolences to the Porter Family from the Mossman Family. Such fond memories of your Dad as a shipmate and a friend.

So sad to read of Jim’s passing. Jim was a fixture around the Rofihe household for many years. There are definitely tales that can be told. Jim made the most of his life and he was definitely proud of his boys.
