Obituary of Dianne Beatrice Callaghan

Callaghan, Dianne (MacLeod) RN

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dianne, our beloved mother, on June 23, 2024. Ever efficient, and always organized, Dianne authored her own obituary prior to her death:

“I was born November 11, 1943, to my wonderful parents, Neil, and Margaret (Power) MacLeod.  I had a very enjoyable childhood growing up in Dartmouth with my three siblings, Cathy (Johnny), John (Janice), and Donnie (Elaine). I attended Dartmouth High School (1962) and graduated from the NS Hospital School of Nursing (1965).

I married my husband, Al Callaghan, and we moved to the Annapolis Valley where he taught at West Kings District High School for 30 years and I worked at Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre for 24 years. We raised three beautiful daughters, Sandee Long (Bill), Cathy and Susie. We have nine amazing grandchildren, Ryan and Kelsey Long, Madeline, Claudia, Louise, and Gregor Yoell, Reid, John, and Michael Oxner.

I was predeceased by my parents, my dear sister Cathy (Johnny MacCormick) and my stepfather Harold Coggins.

Cremation has taken place, and, at my request, there will be no funeral service or reception. Instead, do a kind deed for someone and think of me.Condolences can be sent to my family through Sweeny’s Funeral Home in Bridgewater.”

We would like to thank the staff at the South Shore Regional Hospital for the excellent care that she always received.
