Obituary of Patrick 'Dillon' Jesso

JESSO, Patrick 'Dillon' - Aged 70, of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Passed away suddenly on June 24, 2024, in Nova Scotia, with his son, Troy by his side.

Born in Marches Point, Newfoundland on December 28, 1953, he was the youngest son of Arsen and Angela (Young) Jesso. He spent most of his years in Yellowknife and Cambridge Bay, but had recently moved back to Newfoundland, to live out the rest of his years.

In his younger years he enjoyed working in the woods and helping out his family. He started working in the woods at 11 years old, in a small town called Caledonia, near New Glasgow, until his family moved back to Newfoundland where he eventually started his own family. After his middle son was born, he moved his family to Manitoba and began working as an underground miner, until his youngest son was born in 1979 and then they moved back to Newfoundland.

Dillon will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a hard working man who loved to work, a father who loved his boys so dearly, a step-father who loved his girls like his own, a ‘Bopsie’ who loved and spoiled all his grand-children, and most of all, a loving husband who loved his wife so much that he would do anything for. He had a heart of gold and loved spending time with his family and friends and would do whatever he had to to ensure their happiness. They all have so many fond memories and they will cherish every one of them. He was loved everywhere he went by everyone he met. He was always willing to help, whether you were known to him or not. He was known for his quick-witted humour and loving personality.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 22 years, Mona; sons, Troy (Kylie), and Bruce; daughters, Vanessa, Alexandria (Kyle), and Jessica (Ryan); grandchildren, Stephen, James, Jake, Gemma, Evan and Easton; brothers, Richard, Donnie and Aussie; sisters, Valetta, Hilda, Maude and Martie. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Duane; his brothers, Emile and Cliffy; and sister, Clara.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater, NS. There will be no service or burial, as per Dillon’s request. No flowers by request. In lieu of, memorial donations may be made to Colorectal Cancer Canada, or to Autism Nova Scotia.
