Obituary of Mavia Rosalie Sarty
SARTY, Mavia Rosalie - Age 93, of Bridgewater, passed peacefully into the arms of her gracious Saviour on July 10th, 2024, at Ridgewood Assisted Living, Bridgewater, where she resided and was treated with kind and compassionate care for six years. Born in West LaHave on December 31st, 1930, she was the loving daughter of the late Bernard and Clara Sarty. Mavia was a dedicated teacher, starting her career in Lower Kingsburg, NS, at the age of sixteen to raise money for Teacher’s College. After teaching for 10 years in Quebec, and 25 years in Greenwood, NS, she returned and took up residence in the West LaHave homestead.
Mavia was a kind, modest, and well-liked Christian woman, and besides teaching, she enjoyed reading her Bible, and travel with her sister Roberta across Canada, the USA, and Europe.
Mavia is survived by one cousin, Patricia D’Entremont, and ten nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Clara Sarty; brother, Elliot; sisters, Madelyn Dunford, and Roberta Macnab.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. There will be no visitation by request. A Graveside Service will take place Saturday July 13th, at 11 am in Pleasantville Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mavia may be made to Gideon’s Int., or the IWK Hospital.
Mavia’s Family would like to thank the staff at Ridgewood Assisted Living for their hard work and compassionate care and where Mavia made many good friends within the circle of staff and residents.
