I am deeply sadden to hear this news, and the memories of my uncle Carlos come rushing back. So many of my memories take place at Grandma Slack's house by the lake. At dinners, get togethers, and summer vacations. Carlos would spend time talking about anything I wanted, especially hockey, paintball, videogames, and we played together and laughed.
To Barbara, I'm very sorry. I remember the good times visiting together, and the memories of Carlos are special and heartwarming. I'll never forget how kind he was to me, cared about me, and made such an effort to listen. He has had a lasting impact on me.
To Ian and Marissa, words cannot express my sympathy. You were both young when we would spend time at Grandma's house together. Your father was always very sweet, gentle, and kind to us kids. We played NHL videogames together, and when visiting together during a summer we talked a lot about games and my passion for them. To this day, his influence in listening to me as a kid talk about making computer games ignited a passion in me. I work today as an engineer, and I think about Carlos' influence on a regular basis. He encouraged me to talk about my interest in computers and videogames, and inspired me as rambled on about them. It meant more than he probably knew. This memory stays with me forever, and I'm always grateful. He was a man loved by so many of us.
I'll always keep these memories.
