Obituary of Geraldine Anne Wagner

WAGNER, Geraldine Anne -  Age 62 passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Farmington, on Saturday evening. She is survived by her husband, three children, five grandchildren.

Born in Caledonia to the late Pauline (Canning) Brown and Gerald McBride, she grew up with her older sisters Sheila Wamboldt and Louise Fancy (Dwight).  Growing up in Caledonia, she was very active and enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics. She met the love of her life, Terry, in the spring of ’82 and would get married in 1985. Together they enjoyed many activities including nights playing cards with friends, camping with nieces and nephews, playing guitar, competing in black powder shooting, hunting, having friends and family over for many home-cooked meals - especially David and Terre Haines - and gardening. Geraldine made the best homemade pickled beets and pickled cucumbers with vegetables that she and Terry would grow. She was the first teacher assistant hired by the school board in 1982 and helped to start the Union for the teacher assistants. Geraldine had a special connection with the students she worked with and was proud of the achievements they made.

Geraldine and Terry have three children, Ashley, Katelyn, and Jeremiah. Geraldine invested a lot of time in her children, especially travelling and watching sporting events. Being on-time was not one of her strong suits, and even though she was stuck on “Wagner-Time”, she eventually got her kids where they needed to go. She continued to support her grandsons Bobby and David, by attending their hockey and baseball games whenever she could and was so proud of their accomplishments. She also loved FaceTiming and reading with her out-of-province granddaughters, Alexandra, Abigail, and Juliana. Geraldine was active in the Wordle group with her children and granddaughters, when she would get stuck, she would ask for help rather than not complete the puzzle.

Although multiple sclerosis limited her ability in her later years, it did not limit how thoughtful and caring she was to others. Her family is thankful for everyone who visited her, also for her home care for doing such an amazing job and smiling when she was particular about how she wanted her food prepared. She lived a great life and was lucky to be surrounded by wonderful family and friends that she cherished deeply.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday September 24th in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany. Family flowers only please. Donations in Geraldine’s memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany, where online messages of condolence may be left at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
